CoMotion 2021 Best Typography Design Nomination
This stillframes design is based on an interview with Corita Kent by Pamela Rothom where the ex-nun explained how the maple tree outside her window resembled her creative process.

-What are you doing these days?
-Well… Watching that maple tree grow outside. I’ve never had the time to watch a maple tree before. I moved to this place in October and the tree was in full leaf then. I watched it lose its leaves. I watched it covered in now. The tree looks dead, but we know it is beginning a very deep creative process, out of which will come spring and summer. I feel great things are happening very quietly inside of me. And I know, these things have a way, like the maple tree, of finally bursting out in some form.
Design process
This work aimed to be highly inspired by Corita’s artwork, as well as to reflect the material quality of her preferred media: screen printing. As Corita’s work, it includes elements from the real world, such as photography and video footage. Typography and screen text will play a big role like they do in her own pieces.
